So, every Monday night you can find my family at the softball fields to cheer on Papa Tutu and the rest of his softball team. While I don’t think they’ll be signing any minor league contracts or anything anytime soon, they’re pretty good for a church league. They usually are ranked among the top couple teams and last season, they won the league tournament.
My daughters love to go to the softball games. You would think it would be to cheer their awesome daddy on…
Sadly, that is not the case.
Why do they enjoy the ballpark, you ask?
It’s the concession stand.
You would not believe how many ice pops, pickle pops, airheads, M&Ms, nachos, pretzels, peanuts, sunflower seeds, hot dogs, and sausages on sticks these crazy girls can consume. That’s not even mentioning the gatorades and waters. They purchase all this *ahem* JUNK with their own money, mind you. And after I have fed them a full dinner ~ because that’s the rule – you don’t eat dinner, you lose the privilege of purchasing anything from the concession stand. Which would be bad for the concession stand people, because it’s my girls that keep them in business. Well, the girls and my in-laws, who always seem to have an extra dollar or two to give them.
They amuse themselves in every way possible. There is usually not a big crowd, especially for the late games. No one in their right mind would have their children out so late on a school night. Homeschooling has its perks. So, my children pretty much have the run of the place to themselves, as long as they stay in my sight and out of the red dirt. Here they are hiding out under a picnic table, “sleeping”.
Occasionally, the pitcher’s son will come by with the sole purpose of entertaining my children. Isn’t that nice of him?
To say they adore him is to put it mildly.
And he is an absolute DOLL to put up with them the way he does.
Of course, they DO sit with me to watch their daddy every now and then.
But that usually doesn’t last long.
He’s a good sport, though, and is just glad to have them there.
Especially since he knows I watch his every. play. I’m his biggest fan.
