One Bite at a Time ~ Week 2

As I explained in THIS post, I am going through a 52 step process to make my life simpler.  After all, I declared my desire for simplicity and for 2011 to be the year of “Less” for me back in December.  It’s something I feel I’ve been in the process of moving toward anyway, so this challenge goes right along with those goals.

As I read through the 52 steps for making life simpler, I realize that there are several things that I am already doing – or close to doing.  The step I chose for my next step though, was not one of those things.

You see, I’m a paper towel SNOB.  I will admit it.  I will only use Viva paper towels.  I love, love, love them.  I use them for everything.  Mama Train makes fun of my love/use of my paper towels.  Once after staying with me for two weeks when my husband was on a mission trip, she bought me some dish-rags, because she couldn’t stand how much I used paper towels for everything.  It made her cringe.

So, for this week, the project was to make your kitchen paperless.  What???  Live without my Vivas?  I’m all for living green, but could it be done?  Is this really feasible for me?  The answer?  So far, so good.

I invested in a few dish towels, dish rags, and 2 sets of cloth napkins.  For the past week, I have not used ONE paper towel in my kitchen!  Shocking!  It can be done!  Not only do I feel good that I have actually mastered this (well, for a week anyway) and have less waste, I am actually excited that I will be saving money at the grocery store.  (Because I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Viva brand paper towels are NOT cheap).

How about you?  What ways are you simplifying your life?

Great job! I have been worried about that one too. I was going to go to the napkin isle yesterday, but forgot. {There is always something!} Thanks so much for linking up!

I haven’t read over that task and I thought it was something to do with managing your recipes (and I was NOT going to tackle that anytime soon lol) My grandmother only uses Viva too. She doesn’t use tissue either, she uses Viva! What’s funny is that if she leaves one in her pocket before she does laundry, they come out clean and in 1 piece!! Way to go this week–now you can spend that extra $$ on something fun for you ;)
