Monday Musings (finished on Tuesday)

Well, I got sick at the end of October and dropped the ball on my #31Days posts.  I still feel like I made a pretty valiant effort considering I was working full time this year.

I’ve been up since 4:30 this morning.  There was a small fire in my middle child’s room in the middle of the night.  A lava lamp got knocked over and turned on somehow and started burning.  It burned a hole in one of her special quilts.  We are blessed that she woke up in time to smell it happening and the damage was minimal.

I’m so excited for the final book in the Lunar Chronicles to be coming out this month!  I started re-reading the series a few days ago to get ready.  I’m on the third book already.  Can’t wait for Winter next week!

Speaking of reading, I met my Goodreads year-end goal of 60 books last week.  Yay!

My daughter is going to be in her high school musical this January.  It’s all very exciting until you mention the name of the musical… which is Urinetown.  Urine. town.  As in pee.  It’s a political satire about a town where you have to pay to use public restrooms… and it really is an honor for her to make the cast as a freshman, but I was still a little apprehensive to tell her Nana the name of the musical!  *blink, blink*

My Bible study group is going through Jen Hatmaker’s “The 7 Experiment” and we’ve just finished the first week of fasting (focus: food).  I was weak.  My “7” days was more like “5”.  Next week’s fast involves clothing.  Hoping I will do better.

I used to be a die-hard “Don’t Put the Tree Up Until After Thanksgiving” kind of gal, but I’m realizing there are only 7 weeks until Christmas, and my family is so busy that that time is going to fly by.  I’m kind-of wanting to go ahead and decorate so that I’ll have more time (in the shorter amount of time that I’m home) to enjoy the season.  Is that crazy?  Probably.  But I may still do it anyway.  Also planning on doing online shopping this year.  For the win.

That’s all for this week.  Hope it’s a great one, friends!
