Welcome 2017! I was ready for the new year. The Fall of 2016 was not great for me… I had some growing pains as a parent, but in retrospect, my general bad attitude may have been attributed to my hormones being out of whack, so who knows. 2017 is here and I have new patches. Whoop! However, I find myself fighting off a different funk as we get into 2017… mainly because I am so tired of all the political unrest and factions that seem to just be ripping things apart. I try my best not to be a political person, and I am SO OVER all the Facebook rants.
I didn’t send out Christmas cards last year because I was a complete slacker. I didn’t even take Christmas pictures of my girls. What is the world coming to? Who have I become? And to add insult to injury, both my trees are STILL up. I seem to recall years ago when I first started dating my husband that I was appalled that his family still had their Christmas tree up in February. I HAVE BECOME THAT PERSON!!!
I have begun to refer to the neighbor’s dog as “The Hellhound” because seriously, he scares us. He’s a Rottweiler and I’m actually afraid that he’s going to knock down our fence one day and hurt us. His bark is ferocious and he has the fence leaning from jumping on it so often. I don’t like it one bit and have begun to park the car further down the driveway just so I don’t have to walk by the fence. Recently, however, the neighbor has put up some extra supports to help keep the fence from breaking, so I’m feeling slightly better about not being killed. But I still have been parking toward the end of the driveway.
I need more Lush bath bombs in my life.
I’m on day 40 of a Bible in 90 days reading plan and an accompanying sugar fast. I started Psalms today. I love it when I get to Psalms. It’s such a refreshing book after all the fighting in Kings & Chronicles.
Our high school musical season has finally come to a close. My daughter and her cast-mates rehearsed through Thanksgiving and Christmas break, put in hours of sweat and tears and put on an excellent show. I’m so proud of their hard work. Now to catch up on sleep…
So, by the time I’ve finished this it’s no longer Monday, but that’s okay.
Anyone using the InstaPot? I’ve heard rave things about it. Wondering what all the fuss is about. I do have a love/hate relationship with my Crock Pot. I love cooking things in it, but my kids say that everything that I cook in it tastes the same. It tends to get over-cooked because my work day has me away from the kitchen for longer than 6 hours.
One of my cats is a dum-dum thief… you know, the suckers? We had a bag at Halloween and she kept getting into it and carrying the suckers around the house in her mouth. She bats them around & has a grand ol’ time. My eldest got a lollypop bouquet for her birthday, and once the cat found it she started stealing those too. It’s hilarious.
That’s all for now, folks. Have a great week!
