Monday Musings

So, I sit.  Two weeks ago (tomorrow) I had major surgery, so sitting without much pain is actually quite the accomplishment.  Standing and being up and about are another matter entirely.  I’m not quite there yet.  But for two weeks out, I’m feeling pretty good.

I am so grateful for both my friends and church family who have showered us with food.  Salads, casseroles, lasagna, fajitas, even groceries — we have been blessed beyond measure and my family is NOT going hungry during this period of time when I can’t stand long enough to cook a meal.

My mother came and stayed with us for four days.  I sure did love having her around.  I thought I had the laundry pretty much caught up before I left for the hospital, but apparently there was quite a bit hidden in the closet of a cute little redhead, so she spent a lot of time working on that.  Bless her.

For the first week of recovery, I didn’t even feel well enough to pick up a book — which for those of you who know me is HUGE.  However, by the second week, I was feeling better.  And since when you’re recovering from surgery, there’s not much to do other than sit & read, I’ve already finished 4 books and am also re-reading the Bible in 90 days plan.  Today was day 9.

My 14-year old daughter just came in from shopping with my mother-in-law.  She is quite proud of a new shirt which states, “I don’t sweat, I sparkle.”  It’s SO her.

Not much else exciting is going on around here… just trying to recover.  Hope you all have a great week, friends!
