Monday Musings

Better late than never?  It’s 11:00 pm… let’s see if I can finish this post by midnight.

1. Listening

My oldest is on a Pentatonix kick, so we’ve been listening to that a lot in the car.  She’s also currently rehearsing for a production of “Into the Woods”, so there’s been a lot of that too.  I’m a mom… I haven’t gotten a lot of “me” music time lately.

2. Eating

Not much.  In preparation for an upcoming surgery, I was referred to a Gastroneurologist who promptly put me on a VERY restrictive diet.  I can pretty much eat chicken and fish (doesn’t help that I’m not a fan of seafood), some (but not all) fruits and vegetables, eggs, and some cheeses (not aged cheese).  And don’t get me wrong…. I like chicken and vegetables… I just like a lot of other things too that don’t happen to be on the list.  Sigh.  Snacks have consisted of olives, cheese & almonds.

3. Drinking

Pretty much just water.  The aforementioned restricted diet took away my coffee and Diet Dr. Pepper.  I can have white, green, and herbal teas that are not caffeinated.  I haven’t ventured much into that arena, but I have made a couple mugs of peppermint tea recently.

4. Wearing

Loose fitting clothing, post-laparoscopy.

5. Feeling

Blah.  It seems like the sun didn’t show it’s happy face for about two weeks.  Those specific two weeks were also filled with some pretty serious news for me and lots of dr’s visits.  The short story is that in May I’ll be having a complete hysterectomy and appendectomy.  In the meantime, I’m taking shots that basically throw me into early menopause, and of course after the surgery, it’ll be full-fledged menopause.  Needless to say, I may have been a bit moody lately.  Trying to get on top of things and not let myself feel so down.

6. Weather

The weather hasn’t helped.  It rained for 2 weeks straight.  The past two days have been beautiful!  However, I think we are supposed to have more rain later in the week.  BOO.

7. Wanting

I wish money wasn’t such a big deal.  Everyone just seems to want so much of it — more than we have!  Especially medical professionals, lately. It just seems like such a burden and source of discontentment.

8. Needing

I need to get everything I can done pre-surgery.  Hoping to get some freezer meals made so it will be easy for the family when I’m down for 6 weeks give or take.

9. Thinking

As much as we may differ on opinions now and then, I married a pretty great guy.  He’s been very supportive and helpful these past few weeks.

10. Enjoying

My kids being home for Spring Break!  I’m trying to spend some one-on-one time with each of them this week.
