Monday Musings

This is pretty sad to admit, but I think I put up my Valentine decorations too early.  It’s not that I don’t like them… it’s just that if I’m honest, I’m not even a big fan of Valentines day, and I’m ready to put up the cool green stuff I got for March.  I like my little pink owl, though.  He might be spared when I change things up.

The picture above my mantle is very outdated.  The kids were 18 months, 2.5 and 6.  It was taken right after I found out I had cancer, though, and I have no intentions of taking it down any time soon.

Oooh!  Speaking of decorations, I got my Hymm prints in and on the wall.  I really like them!  Although I think I need some kind of metal music notes or something to go along with the black ones.

I read THIS post last week encouraging people to give away a Bible for Valentines Day – a true gift of love – and think it’s an awesome idea!

I was reading a list of high protein foods this morning, and it listed “octopus.”  Really?  I mean, good to know, but seriously, what normal person is going to incorporate octopus into their diet?

I finished the “scarf with pockets.”  My daughter LOVES it.  She’s so cute.

By the way, I’m going to be an AUNT again!  My brother and his wife are expecting baby boy #2 in July.  I am so excited!

Seriously people YOUR does not equal YOU ARE… that would be YOU’RE.

Sorry.  Just needed to get that out of my system.

My eldest and I have been debating whether or not Sonic drinks count as fast food.  She says yes, I say no.  (Our February food challenge is no fast food).  So, in an effort to have some yumminess, we made up some herb & fruit-infused waters.

And for the record, Sonic ICE does NOT count as fast food.  Our ice maker is broken, and we buy it by the bag.  I may be giving up my DDPs, but I will not give up my Sonic ice.

I finally started getting my garden ready for Spring.  By the end of the month, it will be planting time, so I need to get on the ball!  I got about 1/4th of the main bed cleared out yesterday afternoon.  I still have a lot of work to do.

I will do a garden update post in the next day or so.  I’m sure you’re waiting on pins and needles.

For Valentines’ Day, the five members of my family drew names, and we are all making a homemade Valentine for the person whose name we drew.  It’s supposed to be a secret who has whom, but Momma always figures out these things.  For the record, no one knows whose name I drew, and I have every intention of keeping the surprise!

It seems like every time I go to life group, my toes get stepped on.  Last night, we studied 1 Cor. 13, and let me tell you… those toes are black and blue this morning.  “Love is patient… love is not easily provoked…  does not keep a record of wrongs.”  You mean losing my temper with my 12 year old who doesn’t like the pot I chose for her to take for the Souperbowl Sunday collection is not showing love?  Why are Sunday mornings so chaotic before church?  Losing my patience and my temper is something I am quite good at doing.  It seems the natural response when I have told someone 20 times already to do something and it is still left undone.  (Who am I kidding, I lose my patience after 2-3 times).  I so need work in this area.

I started back jogging/walking last week.  It feels good to be exercising again, and to do so without hurting!!  Praise the Lord!  The girls have been going with me.  We are getting in shape together.  I love that.

Speaking of which, it’s about time for me to get off of here so we can go get a jog in before school starts this morning.  Enjoy the week, peeps!
