Monday Musings

So, it’s been a while since I had a Monday Musing post.  Life has been a little crazy around here.

“Dr. Dolittle” has come and gone.  The girls did fabulous as usual.  My middle child had her first “real” role with lots of lines, and she did a great job.  Here’s a shot of the cast:

My two cuties are in the bottom left corner.  Here’s a closer look:

DDbirdsThe following day, workers showed up early in the morning to start work on our foundation.  It was quite extensive, and took the crew the whole week.  We had numerous holes dug around the perimeter of our house and an additional 5 holes inside our house.  Fun times.  It’s always interesting to see someone standing waist deep in a hole in your living room floor!  So thankful that’s over and done with.

So, we’re probably late to the game, but my eldest and I have been watching “Once Upon a Time” on Netflix.  We LOVE it, and are already on Season 2.  Such a fun show.  I love all the depth to the characters.  Even the “evil” ones have back stories that make you feel sorry for them.

I’ve done very little with the garden this year.  It’s smaller than it has been in the past.  Basically, I’m setting up a herb garden, which will hopefully continue to replenish itself year after year.  I also planted some asparagus in this bed, since it’s a bed I won’t be turning over and planting new plants in every year.  We’ll see how it goes.  Herbs are growing well.   In bed 2 I have two tomato plants, a lot of green beans, 2 squash plants and 2 cucumber plants.  They were all planted later than usual, so they’re just getting going.  We ate our first green bean harvest tonight.  The third bed is just sitting there going to seed.  I have broccoli seeds, lettuce seeds, LOTS of cilantro seeds, etc. just hanging out going to pod.  I’ll use them for the fall.

I have a new goal to be fit by 40 (which gives me 2 years if anyone’s wondering).  I’ve been going to the gym regularly during the weekdays, and going to various boot camp/zumba classes as well as meeting with a personal trainer to strengthen my core.  I am SO out of shape, and still have to modify during the classes a bit, but I keep moving, and it’s got to be better than nothing – right?!  Baby steps.

Still reading up a storm.  I finished Jane Austen’s Persuasion this month and am now re-reading the 5th Harry Potter book, in what is the 5th month of the year.  I’ve been enjoying reading them all again, as it’s been a while since I’ve read them, and it’s interesting to compare them to the movies.  The books are quite refreshing after only having watched the movie versions the past few years.  I have two ARC books to read and review as well that I hope to get to in the next week or so.  Yay for free books!

Hope you are all well, friends!  Have a wonderful week!
