Wow, was it hard to drag myself out of bed this morning. I have been in denial that the time actually changed since last week was Spring Break and we didn’t have an official schedule or reason to get up early.
Speaking of Spring Break, we had such a nice end to it this past weekend. We got to hang out with some really good friends (who are moving back to the area! Yay!), and then my oldest and I went to see……
She is a HUGE fan, and was so excited to finally go. We got her the tickets for her 13th birthday back in December, and finally the day arrived! I saw it last year when it was in Houston, and it was fabulous then as well, but I think I enjoyed it even more this time, because I got to watch her see it for the first time. She was completely captivated and loved every minute of it!
Today is Day 63 of my Bible in 90 Days reading. I got behind a bit last week, but fortunately used the travel time in the car this weekend to get caught back up! We are in Daniel today. I’m not gonna lie — I’m kind of happy to be done with Jeremiah, Lamentations & Ezekiel!
On a related note, the sugar fast is still still going strong… but honestly, my heart is not in it. I find myself dreaming of the arrival of day 90, and planning yummy things to eat when it’s up. So, I’m feeling a little discouraged. Yes, it’s good that I have been able to give something up — to prove that sweets don’t have complete control over me — but I still feel like my heart has issues. I still eat things that are bad for me. They may not contain “refined sugar” as an ingredient, but not everything that’s sugar-free is good for you. I was kind of hoping this sugar fast would be a way for me to kick-start into making better choices. I even went to the gym pretty faithfully in January. I honestly saw no positive results. I don’t know if I lost any weight or not, because I no longer have a working scale, but I don’t really feel like I have. I’ve shared before that I struggle with weight issues. I hate looking at pictures of myself. Just feeling a bit frustrated today. Something’s gotta give.
Can I just say, I love Texas road trips this time of year? The bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes are starting to bloom. I love enjoying big patches of them on the drive. Before you know it, it’ll be time for bluebonnet pictures! Yay!
The trip allowed me to make some progress on my to-read pile as well. I finished 4 books last week. I’m 25% of the way to my reading goal for the year. I still have three more that I’d like to finish this month. I think it’s going pretty well considering all the Bible reading I’ve been doing too — does that one get to count for 66 books? *Smile*
Have a great week, friends!
