Thank goodness it’s above freezing again! I don’t know how those of you in the North handle the cold. It was below freezing for about 5 days in a row here and THAT was ENOUGH of THAT! Today, it’s a balmy 59 degrees and the sun is shining through the windows making it downright warm inside. Much better!
I sat down around 9:00 to do my Bible reading this morning and Ginny curled up in my lap. After I was done reading (about 30 minutes later), I eased my way out from under her and she re-settled. Can you believe it is now 4:00 and that cat STILL hasn’t moved herself off the bed? Seriously — she’s SO lazy!!
So, I’ve made homemade naan several times, but I don’t make a lot of Indian food in general. Hubby asked for some chicken curry this week, though, so I’m venturing out of my comfort zone. I made my own yellow curry paste this afternoon using some cilantro, some roasted shallots, garlic & ginger with some other dry ingredients. It smelled heavenly in here.
Also, I can never cook with shallots without thinking of my sweet friends Kristy and Melissa because of a conversation we had long ago about growing shallots. *Smile*
The girls went back to school today. Thus begins the whirlwind that is January. Final exams, projects, band concerts and two musicals (with two tech weeks!) are all in my future this month.
My husband and I went on our first date of the year last night. We went to Half Price Books and then out for hamburgers. It was awesome AND I came home with two new (to me) books!
I bought a cheap pair of reading glasses today. Yikes! I remember my eye doctor telling me a few years ago that even with contacts there would come a point (around 40) when I would need glasses for reading too. Well… I’m 41+ and the print in books I’ve been reading has been seemingly smaller and smaller. I thought I might just try a pair of drugstore glasses to see if it would help. Oh my goodness. I can see the tiny print so much better! And I’m officially OLD!
I’m having so much fun with my bookish Instagram challenge this month. Check it out on Insta by the hashtag #Ampersand2018. So fun, and I’ve been finding lots of neat new people to follow. Of course, all the awesome bookish pictures make me want to reorganize my bookshelves!
Alright friends, I only had a few minutes available today because I still am catching up on my “after staycation” chores, so I have to wrap it up. I hope you all have a fabulous week!
