Happy Mothers’ Day Weekend! This weekend I’m interviewing some of my favorite moms. I met Julie a couple of years ago and she’s the type of person you just like immediately. She is quirky and kind and embraces the underdog. She recently joined our theatre board and we are so blessed to have her!
How many children do you have and what are their ages?
William Alan , 13 (June 2, will 14)
Jacob Conner , 8Nathan Dean , 6
How did you come up with the names of your children?
William- I need a strong male name to go with Candy. I knew I wanted him named after my brother’s middle name which is Alan. I got William from the TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Then later found out my great grandfathers name was William.
Jacob- we wanted a ‘J’ name and came up with Jacob and ended up with Conner. We had Conner first, but yelled it out and like Jacob first instead. :-) The J and C represented my initials.
Nathan- was a hard name to come up with. We went through 1001 names..ended up with that..also liked it because it was a name of a guy I went to school with and from his Godmothers name Natalie. Dean is short for my middle name Deann. In which, I was named after my Aunt Deanna Deane.
What is a book that you like to give as a gift?
So many come to mind, but I have to say an old Fairy tale, Peter Pan. It was one of the first books, William fell in love with and was captured by it.
What is your favorite “go-to” recipe?
Meatloaf :-) or Chicken and rice
What is a quality you admire in your own mother?
Her willing to give anything and sacrifice herself for all I do
What one product would you give a new mom?
Something that will clean her floor for her!!!
What advice would you give to a mom of a Kindergartner?
That’s me!! I would say…take it all in and do everything you can with your child. Don’t say there will be a tomorrow!
If you could choose a gift to receive for Mothers’ Day, what would it be?
Words to say I love you and know I am needed.
List 5 of your favorite things.
- My camera
- Watching a tv show/reading uninterrupted!!
- Quiet times
Share a favorite parenting memory.
So many…but mostly when we celebrated first birthdays and when we have random dance party’s at the house. I also enjoy when William is teaching the boys about books or something the boys are captivated about!
Thank you Julie!
