Happy Mother’s Day Week! This week we are showcasing some of our favorite moms!
Heidi and I “met” online 17 years ago when we were both pregnant with our oldest children. What started as an online parenting message board grew to a close community of about 40 women. We still keep in touch! It’s my privilege to introduce you to Heidi today.
How many children do you have and what are their ages?
2, ages 16 & 15
How did you come up with the names of your children?
Husband and I couldn’t decide on a boys name so put our favorite names together to get his first and middle name, Dakota Cameron. For our daughter, I was at the grocery store while pregnant with her and the cutest dark and curly haired little girl was getting in trouble, I asked mom what her name is and she told me. I thought it was the prettiest name ever, and then I gave her my grandmother’s middle name, Autumn Marie.
What is a book that you like to give as a gift?
For little ones I love to give Dr Seuss books. For older children I get a gift card and let them choose their own.
What is your favorite “go-to” recipe?
Hamburger gravy with rice or mashed potatoes, not healthy, but the kids eat it.
What is a quality you admire in your own mother?
She’s very thoughtful.
What one product would you give a new mom?
A gift basket of snacks, I like to throw in some chocolate, fruit, nuts etc.
What advice would you give to a mom of a Kindergartner?
If you can volunteer in the classroom then do it, it makes the transition so easy…
If you could choose a gift to receive for Mothers’ Day, what would it be?
List 5 of your favorite things.
This is tough, I’m not materialistic at all, so naturally I will say my kids and husband, but I also like Twix candy bars and a good steak dinner
Share a favorite parenting memory.
Wow, let’s see, the day Dakota pranked his sister, he asked if they could have a cookie, and of course I say yes, he says OK mom just play along, and I say OK? He scrapes out the filling of the Oreo and replaces it with toothpaste and gives it to his sister. The look on her face was priceless!
Thank you Heidi for sharing!
