Mama Tutu Musings

I have been a bit of a slacker at blogging lately.  I had minor surgery last week and was taking it easy.  So, today, I have a bit of randomness to share…

Is 6 Christmas trees in one house too many?  I may have a problem.

I told my family that all I want for Christmas is a clean house.  Seriously.  Like for a month.  Could you imagine what the world would be like if everyone picked up after themselves for a whole month and my house stayed clean?  It’s probably just wishful thinking.  A girl can dream.

My techie family is out of control.  My kids are always on some kind of electronic device.  Seriously.

Okay, maybe the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.  Don’t judge.

I’ve been working on a “top secret” book-type project for the past two years off and on.  It’s crunch time, as my deadline is Christmas.  I cannot believe how much work goes in to editing.  I’m seriously in awe of people who do this for a living.

I think I gain weight just looking at Pinterest.

Speaking of gaining weight.  I have stopped my sugar fast, but sweets still really don’t tempt me too much anymore.  It’s the BREAD that does me in.  For real.  My neighbor brought me some fresh stone-ground cornmeal from some farm in Alabama & I made cornbread using the recipe on the bag.  Oh my, it was SO. GOOD.

My girls and are reading the novel “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio.  The story revolves around a boy who is “normal” on the inside, but has a facial deformity.  We are about 1/2 way through, and so far it’s really good.  It is a contemporary book, which is not our norm, but I really like the way it brings about awareness and sympathy in my kids.

I have a squirrel living in my attic.

There is bearable pain, and then there is the pain of stepping on a lego.

We pitched a tent in the back yard last week.  The girls played in it for hours and even spent the night in it one night.  I loved the way they played so nicely together and used their imaginations!

I guess that’s all for now.  My kids don’t typically teach themselves, and it’s time for math.
