Hot Cocoa Mix

I have mentioned before that my husband plays softball in a church league.  Last night was the first night this season that we just sat there and shivered.  It was in the 40s, which down here on the Texas Gulf Coast is mighty chilly!

It’s hot cocoa weather!  I read somewhere that the difference between hot chocolate and hot cocoa is that hot cocoa is made with cocoa powder, and hot chocolate is made with melted chocolate.  If that’s really the case, then the following recipe is for hot cocoa.  (But if you wanted to call it hot chocolate, the terms are pretty interchangeable around these parts).

Hot Cocoa Mix by Mama Tutu

8 cups powdered milk
4 cups powdered sugar
2 cups (non-dairy) french vanilla creamer
1 1/3 cups cocoa powder
1 large box instant chocolate or fudge pudding mix

Mix all together in a very large bowl, then store in air-tight containers.  The recipe makes 3 quarts plus a pint, or 7 pints.  You could also fill a ton of little jelly jars with this recipe, and tie a cute bow or peppermint to the outside of the jar to make great little gifts!

To make hot cocoa, fill a mug with three spoonfuls of mix and pour in hot or boiling water.  Mix thoroughly & enjoy!
