Hello out there…

Hello?  Hello?  (Tap. Tap).  Is this thing on?

Oh, good.  I thought it might not work anymore since it hadn’t seen the light of day recently.  Hopefully there are a couple of you still around.

So, blogging hasn’t been happening regularly around here.  The end of school/summer crazies have begun.  I have several blog posts working their way out in my head, but for now, I’ll just give you a little bit of random:

  • Mama Train is packing up her house to move closer to ME. WOO to the HOO!  Okay, so it really has nothing to do with me and more about a new job for Papa Train, but she will now only live 4 hours away and not 13.  Yay!
  • Papa Tutu and I just took a WEEK long vacation without children (Thank you Grandparents!) to celebrate our 15 year anniversary.  We went to the San Francisco Bay Area and loved it!  I’m sure I’ll be posting more to come about this in the next few weeks, but here’s a sneak peek.  Here we are quite windblown after having just walked 1.5 miles across the Golden Gate Bridge:

  • So, hubby and I ate *ahem* WELL on this trip {Can you say sourdough bread?  YUM!}, so we’re officially in detox mode and ready to get back on our healthy bandwagon.  The kids are not quite loving it, because to them it means no more sodas & junk food.  Poor them.
  • Church softball league is back up… our guys won both games last night.  Go team!
  • The garden is past its prime.  We are still getting a few tomatoes, cucumbers & green beans.  Oh, and lots of peppers still.  They are loving the heat.  The okra are just starting to grow.  The herbs are heading and going to seed.  I’m just letting them do their thing.  I did finally collect enough tomatoes in the freezer to can a batch of salsa before we left on our trip.  I’m now collecting additional bags of tomatoes to make some spaghetti sauce.  I’m thinking I’m going to have to double my amount of tomato plants next year.
  • I got a sunburn on my head during the trip and now my scalp is peeling and driving me crazy.
  • My soon-to-be sixth grader just started participating in youth group functions at church.  GASP.  I am not ready for this.  When we dropped her off Sunday, she turned around and actually SHOOED us off.  I was so sad.
  • I stopped drinking sodas again.  I miss the FIZZ.  And the aforementioned daughter is taunting me with a DDP.  She is evil. The end.
