Easy Oatmeal

As mentioned by Mama Train, I recently purchased 25 pounds of organic rolled oats.  Yes, that’s a LOT of oats!  This is my favorite way to make them for breakfast, and even a couple of my girls (not all) have admitted that it’s “not that bad.”  I, for one, love it this way!

Easy Oatmeal (makes a LARGE bowl full or two small bowls, but you can double/triple to fit your family)

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup whole milk
1 cup water
1 spoonful brown sugar
1 splash vanilla
2 shakes of cinnamon
1 shake of nutmeg

(I know, I know… they’re not exact measurements, but I just add a little of this and a little of that ’til it tastes good).

Stir all ingredients & bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.  Still stirring occasionally, turn the burner to low and simmer for about 10 minutes until thick.  I like to stir in some butter after I get it in my bowl, too, but you could easily omit that.

Oh. So. Yummy.
