Spray paint is my new best friend. Seriously. I’m wondering what’s next.
We bought this easel from Ikea about 5+ years ago. We use it ALL the TIME. I love that it’s a whiteboard on one side and a chalkboard on the other. If I remember correctly, it was pretty cheap, like around $10. (I just looked it up, now it’s $15 – still not bad!)
As you can see, it has some serious wear. Some “not on the whiteboard” marks, etc. So, I got the bright idea to spray paint it. We went and found what we thought was the perfect color. (Well, that’s not entirely true — one of my girls did NOT like the color and cried about getting it, but has since decided it’s okay after all and has repented.)
I taped up the chalkboard, whiteboard and fixtures with frog tape, because that’s what my friend Rhonda told me to use, and she’s the expert in this matter because she’s the queen of all things spray-paint.
Next, we took it outside. I had a little too much “help,” but it’s all good.
I took the can and did most of the job myself. Other than a few bubbles, it looked pretty good after the first coat:
I let it dry inside on a plastic bag, popped the big bubbles with a straight pin (another Rhonda suggestion), and then gave it a second coat.
The next morning… Ta Da!!
Is it perfect? No.
Does it look TONS better than before? YES!!
All for a cost of a can of spray paint.
Now excuse me while I go hunt down my next
victim *ahem* project to work on!
