Crossing the Golden Gate

For a long time, the Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world.  While it no longer holds that title, it is still a famous landmark of the Western World, and pretty awesome to behold.  On our recent trip to San Francisco, we had the opportunity to walk across the bridge, and I must admit, it was one of the highlights of the trip.

We first rode across the bridge atop a tour bus.  It was a pretty chilly, windblown ride.  It dropped us off just across the bridge, where I was able to snap this photo:

Then, we began our 1.7 mile walk across the bridge.  It was still windy, but not quite as chilly, since we weren’t driving across at full speed.

This moment was epic for me.  As I walked with my sweetheart, hand in hand, I kept thinking… “We are actually walking across the Golden Gate Bridge.” How cool is that?

Here we are, rather windblown, having just finished our trek across the bridge:

Pretty amazing for this small-town gal.

Derek and I were there in May. You had a much prettier day than we did! We needed a ski suit!
