Buttermilk Pie

Mmm.. Buttermilk pie.

It’s one of my favorites… which is funny, because I can’t stand buttermilk!

Come to think of it, I have a lot of favorite pies.  I’m a pie girl.  Give me a good slice of pie over cake any day.  Yum, yum, yum.

Can you tell I’ve been 2 weeks without sugar??

This recipe is one that I swiped from my Grandma’s recipe box.   It’s the real deal.

Buttermilk Pies (makes 2)

1 cup melted butter
1 cup buttermilk
6 eggs
1/2 cup flour
3 cups sugar
1 T. vanilla
dash of salt

Mix dry flour and sugar.  Add melted butter.  Mix well.
Add well beaten eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and salt.
Pour into two pie shells.  Bake one at a time.
Bake at 450℉ for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 350℉ and bake 30 additional minutes, or until firm.

It’s not pretty.  But what it lacks in looks, it makes up for in taste.  Oh yeah!

Oh. So. Good.

P.S.  For those of you who are worried that I may have fallen off my no-sugar bandwagon, never fear!  I took these pictures quite a while back, I just never got around to posting!
