My mom told me about a recipe she saw recently for apple cinnamon ice cream that had applesauce in it, and I immediately thought… ooohh… apple butter would be even better. So, I gave it a try and the results were yum-o!
8 oz. cool whip
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 pint homemade apple butter
Pour into ice cream freezer and add whole milk to fill line. Mine used about 1/2 a gallon.
Follow your freezer’s instructions to make the ice cream. My husband thought it tasted like pumpkin, but I think he was picking up on the cinnamon and cloves in the apple butter. I thought it was good enough to have again… although next time maybe I should try the same thing with cherry butter… mmm….
