31 Days of Music: Soundtracks

Do you pay attention to movie soundtracks?  Last night was opening night for us for “Tom Sawyer”.  The music that the sound effects guy used to play as people were walking in was an acoustic version of the “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou” soundtrack.  While I’ll be the first to admit that movie is a little odd, it was perfect music to get you in a “Tom Sawyer” state of mind.   I love the movie soundtrack genre — and not just to musicals.  In fact, I love listening to a soundtrack for non-musicals.  They’re different than classical music, also calming, but a bit less “stuffy”.

So, I thought I’d share with you the three soundtracks that I enjoy listening to over and over again.  The music in these are just awesome:

LofMThe Last of the Mohicans — My favorite track is “The Kiss” — I love the fiddle in that piece, but the whole soundtrack is just phenomenal!

Jurrassic Park — You can just hear them soaring through the open air in this one.  Love this music.

BookThiefThe Book Thief –– I haven’t even seen this movie yet, but I loved the book, and I love listening to the soundtrack.  It’s a little eerie… as is should be, but very beautiful.

Do you like to listen to instrumental movie soundtracks?  Which are your favorite?
